~Book Award Reception~

Please support your association and its book award project by attending our second annual reception to celebrate our book award winners. . . .                                          

                        When:  Sunday afternoon, August 29, 2010
                                                3:00PM-5:00 PM

                 Where:  Druid Hills Golf Club, Ball Room
                                         740 Clifton Rd., NE
                       
        Who:  All student winners from spring, 2010; their high school counselors or nominating teachers; their parents; and members of the Metro  Atlanta  Alumni  Association of Phi Beta Kappa. 

        What:  A reception, which will provide an occasion for the honored students
to meet each other and to give members of the Atlanta Association the opportunity to  greet and congratulate students and their teachers. . . .with the hope that our student guests will be challenged to strive for  election to Phi Beta Kappa in the four years ahead. . .
        
        Special Highlight:  We’re very pleased that Dr. Augustus Cochran, Loridans
Professor of  Political Science at Agnes Scott College and the author of several books and numerous articles on the politics of the American South, will be our speaker for the occasion.  Dr. Cochran, a PBK graduate from Davidson College with a Ph.D from UNC and a J.D. from GSU, will consider the responsibilities of the voter in an election climate of strained ethics , media abuses,  and campaign excesses. 

        Important!!    To help us have some idea of the numbers, please respond to this invitation by return e-mail, if possible, and no later than Wednesday, August 25.   This is an important occasion for our association:  please, underscore your support for continuing this important project by providing your presence and a suggested minimal contribution of $20.00.
